08/12/2008

Greenberg Glusker announces that entertainment attorneys Bert Fields and Bonnie E. Eskenazi were included on The Hollywood Reporter’s Power Lawyers list-- its annual report of the 100 most influential attorneys in the entertainment industry.

"Lawyers on this list determine the trajectory of the entertainment industry on a daily basis," said Greenberg Glusker’s Managing Partner Norman H. Levine.  "The entire Firm congratulates Bert and Bonnie for their sustained service to clients and these well-deserved recognitions.”

Bert Fields
Legendary entertainment attorney Bert Fields’ repeat appearance on Power Lawyers reflects his many years of distinctive representation of the industry’s top performers, directors, writers, producers, studios, talent agencies, book publishers and record companies.

Long-time client Tom Cruise told The Hollywood Reporter that he “feels privileged to know him.” Other A-list clients that rely on Mr. Fields’ counsel include DreamWorks, MGM, United Artists, Warren Beatty, Dustin Hoffman, James Cameron, Mike Nichols, Jeffrey Katzenberg, David Geffen, Jerry Bruckheimer, Joel Silver, Sherry Lansing, The Beatles, Madonna and Sony Music.

In addition, Mr. Fields has represented such major authors as Mario Puzo, James Clavell, Tom Clancy, Clive Cussler and Richard Bach.

Bonnie E. Eskenazi
One of just a handful of women named to the Power Lawyers list, Ms. Eskenazi regularly plays a leading role in resolving high-profile and landmark entertainment disputes.

Among her best known cases are the representation of Jeffrey Katzenberg in his profit participation case against The Walt Disney Co., defense of Paramount Pictures against the Estate of Jim Garrison in an antitrust class action, and obtaining the return of the character rights of “Alvin & The Chipmunks” from Universal Studios.

Currently, Ms. Eskenazi represents the Estate of J.R.R. Tolkien, the author of The Hobbit and The Lord of the Rings books, in a $150 million profit participation action against New Line Cinema.

Ms. Eskenazi is admired by her clients for her powerhouse intellect and her total immersion in her work.  Client and Academy Award-winning composer Hans Zimmer considers her “a great friend, an original and creative thinker, meticulous in her arguments and extraordinary in her dedication. She doesn’t ever seem to need sleep.”

This recognition by The Hollywood Reporter joins several others this year, affirming Ms. Eskenazi’s stature in the entertainment industry and legal profession. She is one of Los Angeles Daily Journal’s “California’s Top 75 Women Litigators,” Los Angeles Business Journal’s “The Best of the Bar,” Los Angeles Magazine’s “Super Lawyers” and Chambers & Partners’ America’s leading business lawyers.
