Chambers Ranks Greenberg Glusker's Entertainment Litigation Practice at the Top For 2011

07/28/2008

Greenberg Glusker today announced that Chambers USA America’s Leading Lawyers for Business recognized the Firm’s Media and Entertainment Litigation practice once again as Band 1, Top Ranked in its 2011 directory edition. This is the fifth consecutive year that the Firm has placed in the highly selective Band 1 category.  Indicative of both the depth and consistency of its entertainment litigators, Greenberg Glusker is one of only two firms that has garnered the highly coveted Band 1 ranking for five consecutive years.

Chambers USA  noted that the Firm’s “prominence within the market can be adequately gauged by the profile of its caseload,” citing its representation of Marvel Entertainment and the estate of J.R.R. Tolkien in landmark profit participation and intellectual property disputes.  Both of these hotly contested disputes are led by Partner Bonnie E. Eskenazi, who was also named by Chambers USA individually as a top Entertainment Litigator, along with legendary entertainment lawyer Bert Fields, who was specially lauded as an elite Senior Statesman.

Chambers’ repeated recognition of the Firm demonstrates that clients and industry leaders continue to turn to Greenberg Glusker for their most important cases,” said Greenberg Glusker’s Managing Partner Stephen Smith. “Our entertainment practice--both transactional as well as litigation--is thriving, and we congratulate the entire team on this recognition."

In making its selection, Chambers USA interviews Firm clients and included this client comment about Greenberg Glusker, "When it comes to the major strategic decisions, their advice is highly valued. We rely on the team for assistance with the most complex litigation issues." The profile also noted that the Firm’s practice was evenly split between representing plaintiffs and defendants.

Other notable quotes included describing Eskenazi as having “a rapidly growing profile, and is developing a reputation as a go-to for a wide range of entertainment industry disputes,” and that   Fields “remains one of the top lawyers in the field."

Several of the Firm’s entertainment attorneys have received major recognitions this year.  Eskenazi and Candace Carlo were named “Top California Women Lawyers” by the Daily Journal.  Partner Aaron J. Moss, head of the Firm’s Litigation Group, has handled intellectual property disputes involving Godzilla, Lassie and Casper, and was named to the Daily Journal’s “Top 20 Under 40” and its “Top 75 Intellectual Property Litigator in California” listing.  Variety featured transactional and litigation attorney Ken Basin in its “Up Next: The Next Generation” profile of young Hollywood power brokers.  Basin also is the editor-in-chief of the firm’s entertainment law blog,  Law Law Land, which in its first year of posting won a first-place finish in the 2010 ABA Journal Blawg 100.
